Simply put, Malik “Chick” Mables is a guru of the arts. The man can dance, rap, and produce music like no other, and is looking to use his special talents to make a name for himself in this rapidly changing world. With the presence of COVID-19 becoming more prevalent throughout the country and the aftermath of a historical presidential election, it is obvious that we are living in a new normal, whether it be temporary or permanent. To add on, society has woken up to the reality of the discrimination and prejudice that runs rampart in the United States. Right now, life feels overwhelming and unpredictable, and Chick would agree.

“Everything is just different now, and going into my senior year has also been a transition for me, because school has been a lot more challenging.”

The switch from in-person to online learning has been jarring for many students and teachers alike. Despite these drawbacks, Chick looks to maintain a steady pathway towards his achievements. He eventually plans on working with Sony and becoming a renowned producer in the R&B landscape, tantamount to Kanye West, Chief Keef, Lupe Fiasco, and other Chicago natives. He also desires for his songs to be in movie scores and soundtracks. His talents will definitely give him the opportunity to not only provide for himself but for others. Chick’s multifaceted, diverse nature makes it hard to believe that he will ever fall off his course. And I am glad to be able to witness the start of it all.
